Look Ma...No Teeth

Dacia has now lost 4 teeth! The bottom ones are coming in but we can't see the top ones yet. I love the Toothless Grin! You're getting too big Dacia! Stop growing up!

It's coming along..

I finally found a minute to put the doors on the coop. I had to do it...the chickens were starting to stink up the house and I was ready for them to go outside.

We decided to power rake the yard a couple weeks ago. Let me tell you that is quite the project when you have 1/3 acre yard. Holy Cow we were raking forever. It is looking much better and we are getting ready to throw seed down to fill in the thin spots. (the lawn died last year while the house sat empty last Summer..we are happy to see it coming back) Look close...there is a cat parked next to the coop. Listening to the chickens and waiting for the gopher to come out of his hole.

Look how big my babies are getting!
I think we are going to end up with 2 roosters. 1 for sure, the other I need a few more weeks to tell. Malesa is now Martin...Lafawnda may be called Latrell soon.

A day of play...(lots of pictures)

On May 2nd we celebrated Erik's 32 birthday...so the next day we decided we needed a family outing. We let Dacia skip school for the day and headed to the Zoo. It was the perfect day to go. The weather wasn't too hot or too cold and it was not crowded.
The new elephant

This turtle was huge!

Kangaroo and Wallaby

We sat in front of the orangutan forever and watched this funny monkey play. Another benefit of going on a non-crowded day.
This is a picture of Brylee and her dad.

Family Photo(I was taking the picture)

This is a Purdy Chicken!

That's why Dacia and Ashlyn move so slow cleaning...They are turtles!

My sweet girls! We had a fabulous family day at the Zoo.

Give my regards to Broadway...

Dacia participated in Spring Choir at school and really loved it. They had a Broadway theme and learned a bunch of fun songs. One of which was "Tomorrow" from Annie. Dacia was singing that song a lot at home, then they had to watch the movie and now Brylee loves to sing "Tomorrow" too.

4 + 2 = 6

Shortly after we bought our 4 baby chicks I was telling grandpa that we'll see how it goes with the 4 and maybe add a couple more next year...well he thought we should have them right away and he went out and bought us 2 more chicks. The cute little black ones are Black Australorps we named Halle and Lafawnda (we had to give the black chicks black names). We had to separate them though, the older ones kept picking on them. I had read to put them in a container they could see each other so they could get use to each other. After a couple days the black ones started jumping out of the container so I figured it was up to them to fend for themselves. The older ones had gotten use to them and had stopped picking on them by then.

Meanwhile I had to start building this. Our chicken coop. It has been quite the project and has taken a lot longer then I had hoped. The stupid weather has not cooperated with me and when I have all my days off it's usually crappy weather.
