It started as....
a little water gun war.
But they didn't stand a chance when mommy brought out the heavy artillery.
Cowboy Feet
I spent Wednesday out working in the yard and got a ton of weeds pulled. The backyard looks so much better now, but there is still more to do. That night after the girls bathed we were putting pj's on them and I was teaching Dacia what a farmers tan is. After all of us were outside most of the day our farmers tans were looking pretty sweet. I told her "see it looks like we are wearing a white shirt then we have dark arms."
Then next morning when I went in their room to get her up for preschool she looks at my feet and says "mom, you have cowboy feet". It was pretty funny!
I had to crop the picture. I am in desperate need of my toenails being repainted. They look pretty bad right now.

Dance Recital
Today the girls had a dance recital with all the spring dance classes preforming. It was really cute and the girls had a lot of fun.
Here is a picture of their whole class.
They did a little dance to music called "Talking to my teddy". And they danced with stuffed teddy bears. I didn't like the music when they started learning the dance, but after seeing all the dances tonight, ours was the best.

This is after their dance. The teacher gave them all a flower, bubbles and a little certificate.
I couldn't get any good pictures of them dancing. The lighting was terrible in there. They were so cute. 
After the recital we came back to the house and had some yummy cake with Grandma. Thanks for coming up from Tooele to see the girls dance. She brought the video camera so we could record it, now we just need to figure out how to get it onto a tape.
Last Day of Preschool
Today was Dacia's last day of preschool. Ahhh, that means I have a kindergartener. I guess I have to get ready for this. She starts school in July.

Yes only one boy, the teachers son. I really liked that and have considered finding an all girls school for Dacia.
We were in a different Preschool from Sept-Jan with lots of kids. That teacher decided she couldn't handle life and preschool anymore so she quit on us. We were lucky enough to find someone else who wanted to take a few of the kids. Miss Julie was great and Dacia really loved going to her house for preschool.
Dacia's previous preschool had more kids and Cameron. Dacia fell in love with him and talked about him everyday. They were getting married and she had it all planned out. The funny thing is that he went along with everything. Dacia just told him how it was going to be. I was very relieved when we switched preschool and she didn't see Cameron anymore. She kinda got out of her boy crazy mode for a while. She still mentions boys from church, but not as much as she talked about Cameron.

Hand-me-downs...new clothes
Why do I have such a hard time with such a simple thing. When one child outgrows clothes they get passed down to the next child. Here was my frustration. Dacia is a skinny minnie and still fits into her 4T clothes. Miss Ashlyn is growing like a weed and is ready for 4T clothes. So if Dacia is still wearing them what do I pass down to Ash. Do I buy Ash the new clothes and let Dacia keep hers? Then I have twice as many 4T clothes and Bry will have a ton when she gets older. So I decided to buy Dacia some of the next size up, but 5T is not a common size at every store and the little girl size 4 is pretty big on her and twice as expensive. (The cheap Okie Dokie brand at JC Penny doesn't do girl sizes. I only seen Arizona brand stuff in size XS4)
So some of Dacia's clothes got passed down and she kept some of them. Some of them didn't even fit Ash. So they both needed some more new clothes. So I took advantage of the Memorial Day sales yesterday. I did find some 5T shirts at JCPenny and Target.
Dacia has another flowy shirt like this that I bought her for Easter. One day she said "mom, it's my maternity shirt". I asked her today if this was a maternity shirt and she got mad at me and said no.
It is getting harder and harder to find modest little girls clothes. I don't buy my girls sleeveless shirts and a lot of the summer stuff is tank tops. I just don't want them running around looking like little floozies. (So if you have ever bought us sleeveless stuff, sorry we have never wore it)

I put her down for nap this morning and a little while ago I heard a few thumps coming from her room. I went in to get her up and she had put her pacifier back in her mouth and turned her music back on herself.
The little fishy thing on her crib plays music. She has turned in on with her feet kicking it, but her feet weren't near it.

Don't you love it when...
you just start to get a good routine down with your kids and then they change!
Ugggh! We had a couple great days with Brylee this week. She was taking naps good and falling asleep on her own. We had a couple nights in a row that she only woke up once during the night. And then....she decided she was going to start rolling over more in her crib and guess what she hates being on her belly and then starts to scream. So instead of falling asleep on her own she party's in her crib and rolls around and screams. And she has been waking up more at night. I don't have to feed her every time she wakes up, but it's annoying having to go turn her back onto her back, put her pacifier in and turn on her music again.
The other bad part is that i tried to rock her to sleep for her nap and she didn't want that either. She fought it forever before she finally went to sleep. That's the start of a great day. No not really, I hope it gets better.

Great News
Guess who is taking better naps and only woke up once last night? Yeah for Brylee!
She woke up around 4:30am this morning after going to bed at 8pm. She cried for a minute and when I got going down the hall to her bedroom she had stopped. When I opened the door I found that she had put her own pacifier back in her mouth and was going back to sleep. I still got her up and fed her. I figured I was all ready awake I might has well do it. Then she was up at 8:30 this morning. She nursed and then I fed her some rice cereal. She went back down for nap around 9:40am and she is still asleep and it is noon.
The good/bad part is that she no longer wants to be rocked to sleep. I can just lay her in her crib and turn on her music and she will go to sleep on her own. The bad part of that is that it makes it really hard to get her to sleep when we are not home with her crib, especially hard at church. Also great news, because we don't have to let her cry it out when she turns 6 months old. Which is what we did with our other kids.

It was your song....
My girls each have their own song that I like sing to them. Ashlyn requests hers almost daily.
Dacia's is a song I learned at girls camp when I was younger. It's called It's a web.
It's a web, like a spiders web,
spun by the silver light in shining,
spun by the moon in my room at night.
It's a web made to catch a dream,
hold it fast 'til I awaken,
as if to tell me my dream is all right.
Ashlyn's is out of the primary song book. It's I often go walking, but instead of singing dear Mother all flowers remind me of you, I sing Dear Ashlyn.
After I made that her song I got thinking that it might confuse her someday hearing that in primary and them not singing dear Ashlyn. Sure enough it happened last week on Mother's Day. The primary kids sang it during sacrament. Ashlyn yells "their singing my song". So I held her close and sang "Dear Ashlyn" so she wouldn't notice them say "mother".
Brylees song I found on youtube. So I can just post the video. It's really cute.
You might start seeing some posts of the girls favorites or other random stuff, just because I do plan on printing all this stuff in a book for our family journal/scrapbook.

The Specialist
Today we had our follow up appointment with Dacia's endocrinologist.
History Lesson- When we went in for Dacia's well child check up last year the dr was a little concerned that she has almost dropped off the charts on her height and weight. It was like 8% & 3%, I don't remember which was which. So they drew blood that day and recommended that we see a Pediatric Endocrinologist (say that 10 times fast), just to make sure that all her glands were functioning and there wasn't a bigger problem as to why she was on the small side. We went for our first appointment in Dec. The dr asked all the questions, checked her out, looked at the labs from the blood draw and said she looks healthy. They sent us over to Primary Children's to do a wrist xray to check for Rickets and bone age and we would just see her again for follow up.
So we had to have Dacia's blood drawn again on Monday for todays appointment. They checked her height and weight. She has grown 2cm since Dec and gained a pound, which puts her on the same curve that she is all ready following. So still small. She does NOT have Rickets, but her bone age does show that they are younger than she is. Meaning she is an almost 5 year old in an almost 4 year old body. So Dacia will most likely be a late bloomer. But her blood test also showed that she is VERY vitamin D deficient. Her level was 6 and it should be 30. So we have to increase the milk intake and make sure that we are taking vitamins. I have to admit that we do have vitamins in the cabinet, but I got out of the habit of giving them to the girls. She recommended that all the girls and ME should be getting more vitamin D and taking our vitamins. Since Dacia's levels are really low, it's most likely that we all have low levels. So when we go in for Brylee's 6 month appt in a couple weeks we will need to get vitamin D drops for her, or how ever babies take it.

Funny Coincidence
Yesterday we had a family date and went to see Horton Hears a Who. It was really cute if you haven't seen it. I think it is a buy worthy family movie when it comes out. After the movie we stopped and Barnes & Noble to buy the book because we didn't have it.
So today I packed it in the diaper bag for the girls to look at in the car and we took it to the dr's with us. I read it to them while we were waiting for the dr and do you know how the first page of the story starts?
"On the fifteeth of May, in the jungle of Nool, In the heat of the day, in the cool of the pool,..."
Do you know what yesterday's date was? I read that today and thought it was funny that we seen the movie on the 15th of May.
So today I packed it in the diaper bag for the girls to look at in the car and we took it to the dr's with us. I read it to them while we were waiting for the dr and do you know how the first page of the story starts?

Mini Me's
We had a couple happenings with the girls today that shows they are more like me than just their cute dimples.

I do that to Erik all the time. I get his attention, then I either have a brainfart or decide I am not going to tell him what I was thinking and then say, um...I love you.
Erik gets ready to leave for work in his yellow dress shirt. Tells the girls goodbye while they are in the tub. Goes downstairs, comes back up and changes his shirt into a blue one. About 15 minutes after the first time he pokes his head into the bathroom and tells the girls goodbye again.
Ashlyn: How come you changed your shirt into the blue one?
Very observant little girl. Mommy is too. Especially with things out of place. I once figured out a suprise meal Erik was making for me because there was a can out of place in the pantry.
I guess we are in for some trouble when the girls are older.

Time Flies
So Tuesday was our last dance class. I can't believe it has been 8 weeks all ready. The girls loved it. Next week they have a practice and they are doing a recital at the end of the month. While we were there on Tuesday I signed them up for swim lessons for next month. I figure we can do all the classes and see what they really like. I think they have tumbling classed too. It's all done at the Aquatic center here in Clearfield. The girls are excited for the swimming. My girls are all water lovers and we actually need to go to the pool more as a family.Our little Brylee is offically rolling over. She has been trying for a couple weeks and could almost do it, but not quite. I guess we are a little behind. I blame it on having older sisters that will never leave her alone while she is on the floor. She has not had nearly enough tummy time to strengthen her back to help her roll.

Race for the Cure
I did the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday. It was an awesome event. They had over 17,000 registered walker/runner. There was a special spirit/vibe about the whole race and all the participants. I had to choke back tears a few times. Everyone in the race knew someone affected with Breast Cancer that won the battle and proudly wore their name on their backs or sadly some walked in memory of those who lost the fight. Shurna (sister in law) and I walked for Robin, my mother in law, who is a Survivor of 13 years (Erik's guess). And I did it for my girls too. Find a Cure.

Top 10 Favorite Things
Just to embarrass Austin a little as Mother's Day comes to a close...here are my 10 favorite things about her as a mother. :)
1- All my girls have her dimples. I love seeing their smiles...they all remind me of her.
2- I love how she encourages their creativity. The girls must draw 50+ pictures a day...they love watching their mom make home-made gift cards, etc.
3- I love how peaceful she looks as she drifts off to sleep holding the kids.
4- Her cooking is amazing...all after a tough day full of screaming kids. She knows she doesn't have to but she still does it (probably to avoid everyone having to eat some concoction I might produce).
5- I like watching her tickle the girls. Every now and then she'll get hyper with them and get them giggling pretty hard.
6- I love the way she cheers for the kids when they are learning to use the potty. She makes a pretty big deal out of it. I almost wish she would cheer for me when I go to the bathroom. (kidding).
7- I think it's cute that she wanted a bike and a trailer to haul the kids around in for birthday/mothers day. She's always looking for activities to do with them.
8- I love how 90% of the music she downloads or buys is kids music...and she now prefers watching kids movies over anything else.
9- I like it when she gives me a hug/kiss for no apparent reason...especially if she gives me that mega hot look with her big sassy eyes. Or how during 1 phone conversation she says "I love you" like 10 times.
10- She is a classic beauty...a fine wine. She only gets better with age. If she was a bottle of wine I would be an Alcoholic...and I definitely wouldn't keep it anonymous.

Family Duck Date
We were in desperate need of some fun family time tonight. We went and grabbed a cheap pizza and went to the park to eat dinner. We fed the ducks, chased seagulls, got chased by a duck and took some cute pictures. We ended the evening with yummy ice cream from Burger Stop. It was a fun date for everyone.
These are actually our first family pictures with Brylee. I think in the near future we will have to get some more pictures done when we are all dressed for it. And have someone along to do all the camera work, hint hint Jen. I will talk to you about it this weekend.

Cruisin'
It was such a nice evening yesterday, after dinner we played outside in the driveway. The girls love to play on their bikes and we have a little jeep that my dad found at DI (great find grandpa). Last night I sat Brylee in the jeep with the each of the girls and they would push the pedal and take her for a little ride. When they would stop the jeep Bry would giggle. It was so stinkin' cute.
Had to add a picture of my tree. It is finally getting leaves. I have been worried about it. Last year the leaves and blossoms were really skimpy and in the fall we noticed that is was leaning really far and I was afraid that it was dead. We need to attach a rope and peg it in to stand it up straight and I hope it isn't as skimpy this year,but at least it's still alive. It is such a big tree and it was the first thing we planted in our yard, even before grass.

Spa Day
So we didn't have church yesterday. Well we did, but it was Stake Conference. Ever since we have had kids we have viewed it as a day off. It just doesn't sound fun taking kids to a 2 hour sacrament meeting. They have a hard enough time with the 1 hour meeting each week. I know we should be going to all our meetings, we will when the kids are older.
So the girls and I had a little spa morning. It was nice to just relax and not really do anything all day. And I was still recovering from my walk. I was pretty sore yesterday.
The girls feel asleep in our bed yesterday afternoon while they were watching tv. They didn't go to bed to good last night after having late naps.

Cereal Anyone?
We tried rice cereal again this morning just for the fun of it. She actually swallowed it and ate a little cup of cereal. We had tried a few times at dinner just so she could join us at the table and be big and eat, but it all just ended up on her face and bib. I know she is only 5 months, so technically she shouldn't have cereal yet, but I have just felt like she has needed a little more. So I think we will continue with just cereal at breakfast right now and hopefully she will start taking better naps with her belly fuller. Then we will slowly add lunch and dinner of rice cereal. I will wait until 6 months to start adding veggies and fruit.

Happy Birthday Erik
In honor of Erik's 30th birthday I had him compile a list of 30 random facts about himself. So if you didn't know much about Erik, you will know him very well after this.
1. I know everything there is to know about producing female children. :)
2. Eagle Scout at age of 13
3. I once accidentally drank a Kahlua Martini because I ordered a virgin pina colada and they brought me the wrong drink. I had downed the whole thing in one shot only to discover the vapors from the alcohol working their way up my throat. Everything seemed hilarious all of the sudden so I went to bed early to avoid acting like an idiot.
4. Once won a fitness contest by doing 246 sit-ups in a row
5. Played soccer for 10 years
6. Made the All-star soccer team last 2 years played, second year by invitation.
7. First kiss wasn’t until the age of 18.
8. My first car was a ’95 Ford Mustang Convertible named “Da Kine”
9. I have taken first place in 3 out of the 4 fantasy football tournaments I have entered.
10- I am constantly accused of “marrying up” and questioned if my kids are really mine. My only defense is that I don’t know very many guys that didn’t marry up and my daughters get their emotional side from me. Plus I know people say it out of jealousy because my wife is a friggin’ hottie.
11. Austin and I were engaged in just over a month. We had discussed marriage after about 3 weeks of dating.
12. My wife is always tryin to provoke me and bring out my emtional side, especially my emotions for my daughters. ie. downloading songs about dads and their daughters, buying a book called Daddy's Girl (I can't make it through the whole book)

25. If my nails aren’t clipped and clean I can’t sleep well and I am very irritable
26. I am obsessive compulsive with even numbers…everything has to be done in even numbers (ie. the volume on the tv)
27. We have a tradition of eating ice cream with peanut butter in it every 4th of July to remind us of how long our engagement seemed (inside joke).
28. I am Claustrophobic.
29. I have a fear of heights but like repelling, and bungee cord jumping.
30. I love Hawaii where I served my mission. I want to own a winter home in Kea’au area someday.

3. I once accidentally drank a Kahlua Martini because I ordered a virgin pina colada and they brought me the wrong drink. I had downed the whole thing in one shot only to discover the vapors from the alcohol working their way up my throat. Everything seemed hilarious all of the sudden so I went to bed early to avoid acting like an idiot.
4. Once won a fitness contest by doing 246 sit-ups in a row
5. Played soccer for 10 years
6. Made the All-star soccer team last 2 years played, second year by invitation.
7. First kiss wasn’t until the age of 18.
8. My first car was a ’95 Ford Mustang Convertible named “Da Kine”
9. I have taken first place in 3 out of the 4 fantasy football tournaments I have entered.
10- I am constantly accused of “marrying up” and questioned if my kids are really mine. My only defense is that I don’t know very many guys that didn’t marry up and my daughters get their emotional side from me. Plus I know people say it out of jealousy because my wife is a friggin’ hottie.
11. Austin and I were engaged in just over a month. We had discussed marriage after about 3 weeks of dating.
12. My wife is always tryin to provoke me and bring out my emtional side, especially my emotions for my daughters. ie. downloading songs about dads and their daughters, buying a book called Daddy's Girl (I can't make it through the whole book)
