Hand-me-downs...new clothes

Why do I have such a hard time with such a simple thing. When one child outgrows clothes they get passed down to the next child. Here was my frustration. Dacia is a skinny minnie and still fits into her 4T clothes. Miss Ashlyn is growing like a weed and is ready for 4T clothes. So if Dacia is still wearing them what do I pass down to Ash. Do I buy Ash the new clothes and let Dacia keep hers? Then I have twice as many 4T clothes and Bry will have a ton when she gets older. So I decided to buy Dacia some of the next size up, but 5T is not a common size at every store and the little girl size 4 is pretty big on her and twice as expensive. (The cheap Okie Dokie brand at JC Penny doesn't do girl sizes. I only seen Arizona brand stuff in size XS4)
So some of Dacia's clothes got passed down and she kept some of them. Some of them didn't even fit Ash. So they both needed some more new clothes. So I took advantage of the Memorial Day sales yesterday. I did find some 5T shirts at JCPenny and Target.

Dacia has another flowy shirt like this that I bought her for Easter. One day she said "mom, it's my maternity shirt". I asked her today if this was a maternity shirt and she got mad at me and said no.
It is getting harder and harder to find modest little girls clothes. I don't buy my girls sleeveless shirts and a lot of the summer stuff is tank tops. I just don't want them running around looking like little floozies. (So if you have ever bought us sleeveless stuff, sorry we have never wore it)
The Easter dresses I bought this year were actually the first dresses I bought with intentions of putting a shirt underneath it. It was impossile to find Easter dresses with sleeves this year.
Note the typical little girls room in the backgound. All pink!

I totally agree with how hard it is to find modest girl clothes. We are in the market for a new swimsuit for Kenzi right now. I am so amazed as to how many little tiny bikinis there are out there. As for advice, I have no idea. Kenzi is so tall and skinny I have a hard time finding her jeans at all. I do shop the clearance online at the children's place. They have the adjustable waists in all their jeans, and you can find them for $6 or so. Good luck!

I'm so there with you on the modesty thing. I only buy strappy things if I can find a shirt to go under, or a sweater to be worn over. I don't want my girls to be used to immodest clothes and then have a hard time with the idea of transitioning to garment worthy clothes. We've all got farmer's tans. Even Talea's new swimsuit is a shirt with little panty bottoms (which is so much easier for her to go to the bathroom in!) and it's far more modest than regular suits, plus more sun prtection! They didn't have shorts bottoms, or I would have bought those for even more sun protection.

My boys are the same way with their clothes. I really need to go through them and hand them on down. Luckily, boys can wear bigger clothes and it looks good. I just went birthday shopping for my little girl at Target a few days ago. I know what you mean with all the sleeveless clothes. I've found that undershirts work great though, although I did want to buy another white shirt to go under stuff and all their t-shirts are now switched out for tanks...annoying.
