We survived our first full month of crazy schedules and babysitting. I watch my neighbors kids on Monday and Wednesday from about 8:30-1:30, some days they come a bit earlier and leave a bit earlier. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I would drop my kids off at 2pm and Erik would pick them up at 5:30 when he got home from work. I was working the 3-11 evening shift until last week.
My ultimate goal was to be at McKay Dee Hospital. So this month I applied for a job on Rehab and had an interview. I was 1 of 20 candidates, but I was hopeful. The interview was on August 6th and went very well. On Monday August 18th I got a call from HR offering me the job. She asked if I was still interested. I hesitated. You see I had another interview the next day on Medical/Oncology that I wanted to go to. After going to my other interview the next day I tried to track down the lady in HR while I was at the hospital to accept the Rehab job. The other interview went well too, but I didn't want to pass up one and not get an offer for the other. I had to leave HR a message and head home. When I got home I had a message from Erik. His boss was offering him a raise and needed him to work evenings and eventually become the Assistant GM. What a blessing, but it just added to my craziness and dilemmas for the day that needed to be worked out. I could not work evenings if Erik was switching to evenings, so I have to switch to days.
I got in touch with the lady at the hospital about the Rehab position I was offered and it was for evenings, so I couldn't accept it. Kinda bummed. And I didn't get an offer from the other interview either.
So last week I was scheduled for evenings but they had a greater need for days so I was able to switch over to days all ready at South Davis. So I work Tuesday and Thursdays days shift. Erik is home with the girls and takes them to the neighbor's house at 1pm when he leaves for work and I pick them up at 4:30 when I get home. They are at the neighbor's the same amount of hours as before. Erik get's to be Mr. Mom a couple days a week and it is nice having him home in the mornings. He actually gets more time with the girls. When he would get home at 5:30 he didn't get much time with them before they had to go to bed. It has been easy on him this week, but next week Dacia goes back to school so he will have to help with carpool.
I am really starting to like South Davis. I am getter more use to the patients and all the machines they are on. Did I ever mention that they have a lot or trach patients and a few on ventilators(life support)? Days aren't so bad to be working. I am up on the pediatric floor so a few of my patients leave to go to school. I will probably keep looking for something a little closer to home, but maybe I can stick it until winter when the new rehab center will be opening right next to us (I could ride my bike to work).

Oh Happy Day!
First off, I am sooo glad to be using a computer in my own home! We finally caught up on some computer stuff that we needed to do, like some online shopping that we haven't been able to do.
Next, I got my Space bags in the mail today. Yeah I get to clean Brylee's closet this weekend.
And last, I got a cell phone. Notice I didn't say new. I actually haven't had my own cell phone since we got married. Erik has always done more driving or has needed one for work. But with me driving more and being at work we decided to get me one to have.

Look how gross
About a week and a half ago I had an itch on my side. I thought my skin was irritated from my g tag rubbing on it. Then a couple days later I got a small cluster of little red dots on my back. We put cortizone cream on it thinking it might be eczema. Then that cluster spread on my back and around my side and front. Then I got little puss bubbles all over the red patches and it itched like crazy. We went down to Erik's parent to do a little research on the computer. We diagnosed it as Shingles and applied alot of calamine lotion and benadryl spray. I finally asked a nurse at work about it and showed her my spots. She said yep that's Shingles, she had them once too. My puss blisters went away and I have a few scabs left. It's a little irritated but nothing like when I first broke out. It will probably leave some scars. Just in case you ever break out like that, you will know what they are.

We're Back!!- edited
We have a working computer at home finally. Erik stayed up late late night and got it fixed. Something to do with the video/graphics card. I was sound asleep when he told me so I am not for sure, but we didn't have to buy anything to get it working. Guess we should have looked at it a bit sooner and maybe we wouldn't have been without it for so long. But other good news is that Erik looked at the old laptop last night too and just needs a cd or something to load onto it to get it working again too.
I have so much more to update on but I have to go to work. (I work mornings now, long story) I'll update later and add our Lagoon pictures.
Ok, I guess I got a little prematurely excited yesterday morning. When I got home from work the laptop worked for about 5 minutes and then stopped. We probably do need to buy a new graphics card or a new fan for the card. But the other night Erik also looked at the old laptop (the one that died right after we bought the new one) and he got it working but he had to bring home a disk and add new drivers to the computer. So here we are on the old laptop now. Either one, it's nice to have a computer.

Lagoon- pictures added
L-a-g-o-o-n spells fun! L-a-g-o-o-n spells fun! The Gumbrecht family had fun, in the hot summer sun. L-a-g-o-o-n spells fun.

We took the girls to Lagoon last Thursday and they had a blast. We ended up getting a good deal on tickets thanks to my mom and dad giving us their discount pass from my dad's work.
We got there around 11am and there were no lines for the kids rides. The girls had so much fun on all the rides. Brylee got to ride the Merry-go-round and the train and she was so excited while she was on them.

We stayed until a little after five and then we took the kids home and just Erik and I went back. Wicked was so cool! I was getting kinda nervous in line but I was ready to ride it again after we got off. Too bad the line was to long for that one. We rode a few other rides down on that end then went down and rode the Samurai, which was also cool! Just a little note though...be careful with stuff in your pocket on Wicked and Samurai. We witnessed 2 people losing keys on those rides.
I have Lagoon pictures I will have to post later. It really bites not having a computer yet!
We had such a fun day and we were so happy to have a family date and a mom & dad date. We are suppose to have another one tomorrow, but I just read somewhere that the Dave Mathews concert was canceled. I guess I need to look into that and see if it's true.

Infomercials
So we canceled dish last month. It was very sad! Dacia cried about not having her cartoons. With just regular tv our only cartoon channel is Qubo. It is so funny to see the infomercials so much on a kids channel.
I really want a Pancake Puff Pan now and Dacia tells me that every time the commercial comes on "mom you want that". They now call the scooter a Mogo. Dacia seen a commercial for the Smart Clip for cell phones and told Erik that he needs one. She said he needs one "it has a light on it".
I did buy into one of the infomercials and just ordered me some Space Bags. I have 6 bins full of little girls clothes in Brylee closet that need to be condensed. I will let you know how they work!

Updates
Not much new on the homefront. We are still without a computer at home so we have been using Erik's parents computer and I am blogging today at my mom's house. It really sucks when everything you do uses a computer (ie online banking, blogging, shopping)
Dacia has really enjoyed her first couple weeks of kindergarten and is all ready off track for the next three weeks. What am I going to do for three weeks with a little girl that loves school?
Brylee is sitting up. I think she has been able to for a while and has just chosen not to do it. She enjoys rolling around on the floor more and she can't get anywhere sitting there.
This last week was my first busy week. I watch my neighbor's kids on Monday and Wednesday. And I work on Tuesdays and Thursday and she watches my kids from 2pm until Erik gets home. By Friday I was beat and enjoyed a low key day of just driving to and from kindergarten and NAP.
There's not much else happening. I know I had blog post going through my head this week but when I only get to blog once a week now I have forgotten what else I was going to post about!

Dacia's First Day of School
Dacia officially started Kindergarten on Tuesday. She had orientation on Monday the 21st and her kindergarten test on the 23rd. Testing is so funny. Her teacher asked her when her favorite time to read was and Dacia said "5 o'clock". It was cute listening to her answer all the questions. She is so smart and her teacher loves her all ready.

I was totally bummed. I started work on her first day of school. When I accepted the job and they told me I would start on the 29th with my orientation I didn't realize that was Dacia's first day of school. I thought she would have started on Monday not Tuesday.
Erik was a great Mr. Mom for the day. He took the day off work to be with the girls and take Dacia to her first day of school.
