We had a lovely Christmas break. It was so nice to have time with the girls and do nothing. It was very hard to go back to reality and start having a schedule again with places to go and to start doing laundry again (we spent much of Winter break in pj's).
Dacia is a happy 1st grader. Happy because she is in after school Art Club right now. It's only once a week, but she loves it. Her biggest complaint about 1st grade is that they don't color enough...so art club is helping. She is getting so good at reading and I love to listen to her read. It amazes me how smart she is getting. She is getting 100% on all her spelling tests. If only we could get on some kind of better system for homework and chores...we don't do so well in that area.
Ashlyn is loving preschool. Tuesday we went on our first field trip to the Children's Museum at the Gateway. Dacia was out of school, so the whole family got to go (it helped that we got a great discount). The girls love doing the new on the KSL set. They even practiced what they were going to report about the night before we went. Ashlyn is doing great with her letters and sounds and can even sound out some words. This little girl will be reading soon.
Brylee is a joy about 80% of the time and the other 20% she is a curious little two year old that likes get into everything around her. She is doing great on the potty and prett much trained herself. We didn't push her at all or have to tell her anything. One day she just decided she would go in the potty. She only has to wear a diaper at night. She wears pull ups when we go out to the store or church...she hasn't mastered telling me when she needs to go when we are out, only because she goes on her own at home. She has mastered pooping 5 times in one day just to get more suckers(Bry gets marshmallows for peeing and dum dums for pooping). Brylee FINALLY loves going to nursery. It has been hard getting her to stay in there and be happy, but she loves it now. I can even go in and see if she needs to go potty and leave the room without her even caring (she did use the potty in nursery twice last week by herself). Big Girl!
Erik is working away at the Red Lion still. He works evenings and it is hard having him gone at night, but he loves the company and is really valued there. It's nice having the stability in this economy. Erik's spare time is spent discussing politics and debating the issues with his groups on Facebook. Last week he went to a Precinct meeting and is interested in becoming a delegate and getting involved in the local politics (Erik will correct me if I got any of the terms wrong). Erik was recently called to the Elders Quorum in our ward and keeps busy with that too.
I am still working in Bountiful. I HATE the commute and have procrastinated looking for a new job here in Tooele. Some days, I feel lucky to have a job and the fact that I carry the insurance makes it hard to just quit. I have been keeping busy in my spare time with doing craft projects. I have turned the garage into a wood shop...with few new tools I bought and some from my dad's garage, it's freakin' awesome. I have started a business selling wood letters and craft kits..hoping to expand to more craft products in the future. It was kinda a hard move out to Tooele for me...there are no craft stores out here(wal-mart does NOT count as a craft store..they suck). So my goal is to build up to opening a craft store here in Tooele (and have designer fabric again...there is no sew&save here). I also keep busy with my calling in the Primary...I would have been much more comfortable as a Teacher, but being a counselor in the Presidency isn't that bad. I love the Primary kids...we have great ward!
That's our life in a nutshell!!
