Staycation

I really really wanted to take the girls to Disneyland, but it just wasn't the right time. We still wanted to do some fun stuff over Spring Break so we opted for a Staycation. Erik took a couple days off work and we played in Salt Lake with the girls. Thursday we started the day at Clark Planetarium. We watched Under the Sea in 3D which was pretty cool, but little Bry couldn't even make it through a 45 minute movie (stinker) After the movie we walked over to the Trax Station and rode Trax over to Temple Square. We went to the museum on the west side of the Temple, I think it's the Pioneer Museum. I hadn't been there since I was in YW and Erik had never been there. There is a little kids play area upstairs, that's kinda like Discovery Gateway, where you can play, dress up and do little activities. The girls loved it. We were glad the weather held out on us while we walked back to Trax and rode back to the Gateway.
On the way to the Hotel we stopped at Taffy Town. We were hoping they did tours , but they don't. So we just bought a bag of the best Salt Water Taffy around. It was seriously yummy! Then we went and checked into our Hotel in Salt Lake. We stayed at the Holiday Inn next to the E center. It has a fun little kids play area at the pool, so you can guess where we spent the night. Playing in the Water! My girls are fish...they would play in the water all day long if they could.
The next day we woke up and got ready for another fun day of activities. We started the day at The Living Planet Aquarium. The new penguins are very cute and very active. The girls really like watching them. Dacia finally pet a Stingray. I, on the other hand, am not brave enough to pet the Stingrays. It was fun to have watched the Under the Sea movie the day before and then to see all those under water animals at the Aquarium.
After the Aquarium we went and had lunch at Texas Roadhouse then we made our way down to Thanksgiving Point to check out the Dinosaur Museum. It was cool. We had never been there before. Dacia has been on a dinosaur kick lately, they must have studied them in school , so she was really excited.

There was a room with a shark head and Dacia and Ashlyn were deathly afraid to go in there, but you had to pass through that room to get to the other exhibits. I wheeled Brylee in there in her stroller and parked her, then I had to cover Dacia and Ashlyn's eyes and drag them in there. it was pretty funny. I got them to stand there and told them not to look back, then they ran off after we snapped a few pictures. (I know none of the pictures are great, we forgot the camera and took them on Erik's phone)

The dinosaur bones were very cool. This is a T-Rex behind us.

We had a lot of fun! It was great to spend time together as a family. It was a much needed break from everyday life that we all enjoyed.
